How it works — examples & FAQ

Reading the guide

Every enchantment lists its maximum level (in roman numerals), the items it can go on, and any conflicts— enchantments that can’t share the same item. Search by enchantment name or by item (try “sword” or “boots”) to filter the list.

Why conflicts matter

You can’t combine conflicting enchantments on one item — for example, Silk Touch and Fortune, or the different Protection types. Plan your combinations before you spend levels and lapis at the anvil.

FAQ

Can I go past the max level?

Through survival enchanting and anvils, no — the values here are the normal caps. Commands can force higher levels, but their effects don’t always scale beyond the maximum.

Does this cover Bedrock and Java?

Almost entirely — the two editions share nearly all enchantments and caps. Sweeping Edge is Java-only, and is marked as such.
